I recently put 17" Audi Sport rims with Dunlop SP9000 tires, size 235/45zr-17 on my 99 B5. Does anyone know what the appropriate air pressure would be to maintain in this size tire on a B5?

audi wheels

Hi there!

I also got the A4 wheels, same size, and I'm surprized by the weight of these things! Much heavier then the 15" OEM. I wonder if BBS would weight the same? Could these tires make up for most of the weight?

Thanks.

28 psi seems very low for such a low-profile and wide tire. Won't the edges wear prematurely at that psi? I assumed 35 or 36 would be more appropriate. What would happen if I do run them at 36 psi?

At 36 psi you will get crisper steering response and a bit stiffer ride. You may wear out the inside of the tire quicker than the corners though. I would start at the 28 psi and then tune the ride to your liking. Generally you will want to stay pretty close to the 28 psi though.
