I went to put it in park, and it didn't want to go in at first, so I tried other gears and everything else worked. I tried again, and it went in, but not smoothly. Then after work, I got back in and tried to start my car, and it wouldn't turn over. I tried applying the brakes and everything, but it wouldn't even try turning over. The battery is not dead at all. So I put it in Neutral, and it starts normally. So now whenever starting, I have to switch it to neutral otherwise it won't start.

Do you guys think it's a bad switch, the one that tells the car which gear the shifter is in? If so, how much do you think it will cost? Would it be under warranty.

BTW - I have a '99 1.8T with only 43, 000 miles

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Mine did the same thing when I first got it. It's not going all the way into Park. Take it to the dealer, it's a quick adjustment. I believe it's a cable that they adjust.
Whew, that's a good thing to know, thanks for the info! :D
