have been working on my passat and cant ignore this ticking noise coming from the engine. my ssat has 90k, have already changed out the timing belt tensioner pulley alternator and water pump. Also theres a second noise coming from the engine and sound almost like a hole in a tire, i have checked the pvc lines and have found no clogs

A hissing noise? Might be a vacuum line leaking somewhere.

Get a length of vacuum line, put one end in your ear and use the other end to probe around trying to pinpoint the source of the noise. Sort of like a stethoscope.

Does it tick faster when you rev up higher? And does it go away after driving it for a while?

Could be a cam chain tensioner as well.

I don't know about the V6s, but on the 1.8Ts, the injectors tick pretty loud.

no, never does the ticking stop. not sure if it gets faster or not, haven't listened while revving
