hi guys ive got a ticking noise under the glovebox on my 99 1.8t passat its coming from my heater blower it only ticks at low speed then shuts up at speed any ideas ????
Could be the very first stages of the motor bearing going bad. Of course, last time mine "ticked" it was a leaf in the blower chamber. Don't know how it got past the filter.
Hi mate thanks for posting a comment is it a big job taking the motor out and checking it over its weird cos when I speed up the noise goes and if I press some of the blower buttons
It's not too bad. You take out the glove box to get at it; just remember some of the plastic bits will crack if you look at them sideways. Oh, and remember to reach around to disconnect the wire for the glovebox light before yanking on it too hard.
I had a ticking coming from my old B4 one time and I opened it up to find a mouse nest complete with a now dead mouse thanks to my blower motor. Little guy had chewed a hole in the cabin air filter and settled in while the car was parked for a winter waiting for a new radiator.
