:wrench: So I talked to my local VW service manager, I'd recalling see that auto wipers were partially discontinued in 2013 and fully discontinued in 2014; as soon as I saw this I knew something was up. My service rep said the VW auto windshield wipers for the Passat don't work very well from a car's standing stop, there were problems with the activation.

I told him I knew the wiring was in the car for auto wipers and he said that was correct but I was better off not installing them, or try to find third party products.

This was one of the first mods I ever did, and 2 years later, still wiping when and as needed. No battery drain issues either as some have implied with the RLS activated. Worst case it doesn't work properly - you can always disable them.

I am going to have to agree with vw_norm. This was the first thing I did as well and it works perfectly to the day.

I turned these on almost right away on our '12. They can be a little fiddly at times, but overall no real problems. I can see why they left them disabled from the factory though. Guess they didn't spend enough time programming the BCM for the rain intervals. Too bad they couldn't borrow some code from Mercedes

I have this option on my BMW and ground zero for testing these things should be Vancouver BC; if they work well here, they'll work well anywhere. I find the biggest problem isn't the heavier rains, its the very light misting rains that can challenge the auto windshield option, even when you set the control for the longest delay.
