September 19th. A few friends and I made the trip up to Atlanta from the Florida panhandle for NOPI Nationals '08 ... Except that NOPI had some financial trouble this year, and was replaced by the haphazardly thrown together Motorsport Nationals. I feel bad for NOPI, but really ... if all these guys behind Motorsport Nationals were able to do was get a double-size highschool-parking-lot-sized car show together, and then charge $50 for the two days ... they should've just canceled, and refunded everyone their money. It would've saved a bunch of money, gas, and their own embarassment of putting on such a horrid show. Good thing you didn't waste your time, Jordan!
Enough of that. Here are some pictures of us making the best of it. Most of these came from my friends' cameras—I was too pissed to take pictures.
Our horses, feeding at the trough ...
Outside the GICC (Georgia International Convention Center)
Everyone's clamoring to get in ... Just before everyone's so anxious to get out ...
At least I got to see one of these ... Owner didn't even open the windows or pop the hood ... :thumbdown
There were more cars outside, which at least had us enjoying the beautiful weather for a few minutes, but our general feelings on what happened can be summed up with:
Then we made the most of the trip back home with some rolling shots!
Does this picture make my butt look big?
Changin' lanes ...
Should've put the window down ...
I made this trip with a buddy in the passenger seat, light belongings in the back seat, lowered like this, and with the PSS9s set at 4 (9=softest). Apart from the
severe bouncing when driving over broken pavement, it was smooth sailing all the way. It was better
and worse than I thought it would be.
Oh here's a decent one ...
My view ...
Then this guy snuck up on us.
He didn't blow by or anything—even though he totally could've—but believe me, these things look 1000% better in person than they do in pictures. And a twin-turbo 3.0L straight six in something so small is sexier than, well ... a lot of other things.
