After many months of hassles my 2000 4-Motion is finally gone. I've owned VW's for 14 years but I'm done with them now. 
I don't know if the quality has gone downhill or I just had some bad luck. I moved to a new town and just couldn't find a good mechanic. Service makes a huge difference and that is probably why I stayed with them for so long.
