Reading Alex's comment that the moderators have long memories made me think that we should test them. Better yet, kind of brings out soem of the ClubB5 history. Most memorable member for me, besides Macabre
, is ThRoCkiSgOD. Total doof that manged to be the first person ever banned from ClubB5. Must have been less than 500 members then. The most annoying 14 year old. He'd go on rampages. He was a post whore's post whore.

Re: Test the moderators memories (Urlik)

I just want to know how JonBoy and cheese ever became associated... it's a part of the ClubB5 lexicon!

Re: Test the moderators memories (Scotaku)

here are some q's: moderators, when was the first crash? How many crashes have there been?

Also, how many different forum software versions have we been through? (including any that only lasted a few days/month)

How did each of the following members' B5s meet their fate?: THEGREEK, neokai

more questions to come

You could credit that to me and an obscure thread I started in the nether-regions of this website... the Testing Forum....

Re: Test the moderators memories (VWDogma)

Umm lets see. The Greeks old siilver B5 caught on fire on the toll road due to a rag being left in the engine bay. neokai spun his black B5 and flipped it as I recall.

First crash was aproximately 2 months after the establishment of the club I think, and roughly 5-6 crashes since.

Software changes... right around 5-6 as well I think.

Re: Test the moderators memories (passatlover99)

What can I add?

Which member got hit on by his neighbor's daughter? (3pts)

How much did duandcc's Passat sell for? (3pts)

What did Macabre replace his Passat with? (4pts)

Whose breakup provoked the recipe/how to cook thread? (5pts)

What is and how expensive was a GCCS? (5pts)

What OEM options were available for a GCCS? (5pts) Bonus: What came with it stock? (2pts)

Ok, there are a few that I know the answers to.

Re: Test the moderators memories (atomicalex)

Aww, man... These are all relative "newbie" memories. What about the first reported chip failure, causing Magellan's B5 to become completely disabled, resulting in his wife's insistence that he never again drive his family anywhere in a car that was anything other than bone-stock?

Or Spec's mystery mod thread? (Smallest mod ever.)

Or (were they Macabre's?) pics of the first Indigo Blue Passats on a London car transporter. (We're talkin' serious fanaticism, here.
)

Or the origin of the Outlaws. The pics of the illegally parked B5s and ensuing tongue-in-cheek creation of that rowdy band of Colorado-Crazies.

Let's not forget Becca's VW tattoo, and the ankle-lust that resulted.

Anyone remember CoreyV6? Toyin? Magellan? DAK1 (Who became DAK2, 3, 4, 5, etc, through each of the crashes.)

These folks, and more, were all B5-mod-crazy-freaks in the days before 16 different manufacturers of body kits. Before the aftermarket Xenon headlights. Before aftermarket exhausts and underdrive pulleys. Back when we were comparing the virtues of .8 bar chips from only three different companies.

Back then, Relay 173 was NEWS! The New Beetle Sunglasses Holder was COOL! 1BE was a mystery-suspension set-up (well, I guess it still is to some dealers.
)

Back then, the stuff we scoff at as common knowledge today was exciting and new. There were 300 members and we all shared a certain pioneering spirit.

Sure was a fun time...

Re: Test the moderators memories (JazzMat)

or who was the first retired moderator??

How many years did it take some of us to figure out atomicalex was a girl?!

How many times did people try to prove Mac wrong?
How many times was he actually proven wrong?

Back then I was a lurker. A big time lurker in this forum. And no, I can't answer what the GCCS is, but i'm kinda dying to know.

Re: Test the moderators memories (JazzMat)

you guys have some good memory... 1999 was a blur. the only thing i remember in '00 was posting about how the s2000 antenna fit and the resulting frenzy and eventually the s2000 antenna became the "official club b5 modification" .

Can Can I anser this one?

Another question that only a few will know the answer to. There were 2 memebers that qualify as the "first 1.8T in the USA to get chipped by UPsolute." Both of these peeps got FREE chips for being test beds as well as lifetime upgrades and tech support for free. Both cars were done on the same day, and nobody can prove which one was really done first since both were "mail the ECU in" jobs. Can anybody name these 2 members?

Re: Test the moderators memories (99passatgls)

Another lurker here, but I've lurked for a while. Who did the first euroswitch and rear fog mods? I think it was Stargazer on the rear fog, but ??? I do miss living vicariously through our friend in Philadelphia whose name I can;t rmember right now with the pornstar and neighbor girl stories... too old to remember, and I'm just 31.

This site has saved me countless $$ and really made owning my car a lot more fun than it would have been without you all. Thanks for your knowledge and your e-friendship. See you round the forums,

The GCCS came with croutons and bacon bits standard, I think.
