I have an 04 v6.
I'm having trouble getting the clip back into place. I've searched the forums and YouTube and got alot of good info but just looking for a little help.

There are grooves that the clip goes into. To be clear the clip goes on the inside, not around the tube?

I've been trying to figure this out for a couple days, I'm a noob I know. Luckily this isn't my only car.

Thanks for any help!

First you need to use some dental floss to tie the clip to your finger so if it falls in the engine bay you can recover it easily.

The trick I used to insert this clip was to use a small vise grip. If you don't have one then perhaps you can use a needle nose grip plier.

Yes, but are you pushing the sensor down with your other hand? You got to push the sensor down while you try to insert the clip.

Edit: I just want to make sure you are talking about the coolant temp sensor.

Also I noticed yours is V6 so at this point I'm not certain whether it's the same as 1.8T.

No, just align so it more of less matches the existing fit of the harness connector. Check that the O-ring seating area is clean, use some Vaseline on the O-ring, and push down on the sensor just enough to fit the retainer.

The clip goes on from the outside of the tube, into the two slits - and the two arms of the clip go over the top of the CTS flange. Now, the first couple of times I tried this, the clip went under the flange, and it would just pop out. You have to push down firmly on the sensor. What I did was put the wire connector back down, and press down that with a block of wood.
