Check the offset first. There are plenty of websites selling rims that will list the offsets for any modern car. I think B5.5 uses ET37 offset but that's from memory and could be wrong.

If the offset of the new wheels is off too far from what it should be, the wheels will sit either too far in or too far out and can rub or cause bad handling.

OTOH, your car already has wheels that fit. You could drive to a tire store and buy two new tires. How much would that cost?

Yes the stock B5.5 16 inch rims have a ET37 offset. Those 2014 Jetta wheels have a ET50 offset. With that offset, you'll have wheel further into the wheel wells and possibly hitting something.

If you are looking a used tires, I would suggest going to a tire shop that sells used tires. Doing a search near the craigslist ad area, I found a couple of used tires shops in San Jose with good reviews.
