HI GUYS :D
First time post. All the way from NewZealand. If you have no idea where NewZealand is, it is about 12hrs flight from L.A. No Shit.

I have just purchased a '98 Passat 1.8t with 60k on the clock. That's about 37miles. It's a bit different from the ones you guys have in the States. Mines a Jap import.

I'll post some pics next time. I also own a '56 oval. NewZealand assembled. It may have to be sold to fund mods on the new Passat that I have owned for two weeks. That's if I ever get time.

Unfortunately the Passat feels a bit pusy(slow) compared to other cars I have owned. It's nice and tight to drive but has bugar all pull. Less than what I expected.

Anyway enough dribble.
GREAT FORUM

Hi Kiwi.
Welcome, Brit myself but now living in the States.
My question is, do you have any roads long enough to get above 3rd gear?

No wonder it's got bugger all pull, not even enough road to get to get the turbo spooling. ;)
I assume it has a turbo

Hey arent you that other bit next to that big island?
I hear there's lots of sheep and goblins roaming around with rings? :poke:

Welcome to ClubB5!
Always happy to see another Passat down here
 welcome :)
Welcome!

I did a US Peace Corps service in the South Pacific (PNG) and got to visit New Zealand (North Island) for 10 days on a vacation. I loved it! What a beautiful place to live. Lots of friendly people, too. My wife and I gave serious thought to trying to move there to live after our service was done, but it was just too far from friends and family. I've got to get back someday.

Think about a chip for that Passat if you've got the 1.8T. That will spice things up a bit for you.

Cheers!
welcome to the club!

you'll find lots of great info and people 'round here, not to mention lots of group buys....
do you feel your wallet getting thinner already?

I know where NZ is. Like the other two guys, I come from a cricket playing country too. And from LA, the 'first' leg of journey to my country is 14 hours non-stop. Beat that!
Welcome to the club
Thanx for the replies guy's
I'll send some photos of my passat to see if you can spot the differences.
That's if my son will ever sleep long enough so I can take some pics
Ragards
Love the New Zealand lingo. May have to pick up on that.

As for your B5 being sluggish, get a T28 turbo kit with a K04 turbo.... then you'll need some ECS stage II V2 rotors, Porsche 4-piston calipers, KW V2's....

Bye-bye, wallet...

WELCOME! :D

Hey welcome! VeeDub love from Connecticut! 8) I'm all the way on the left coast of the states so The Dub love proves that it travels well! :D

Do you guys get bad winters there? If so, do they use salt on the roads? the reason I ask is I'm wondering if you guys get any cherry air cooled Dubs over there.
Salt on the roads!? Na bro.
What do you mean when you say "cherry air cooled dubs"?????

You know, the old style VW Beetle's, the ones with the air cooled engines.

Cherry is American slang for mint condition.
There is a few minters around. Mostly ovals. There is a couple of really nice splits but f all old ones left now that aren't fill of holes. MInes all straight hardly any rust but I don't really have any use for it. I spent a bit of time knocking around with my local aircooled club but most of them are into hotting up super beetles. They weren't too keen on the old original ones. I got sick of going on a run with them having to ring the piss out my dub. Never mind I have a new Dub in the family now.
