I know HIDs are all the rave and I wish I had them, too but not everyone can afford them. So I went the H7 upgrade route and got some VisionPlus. I took identical pictures before and after of the beam patterns as well as a side-by-side comparison of Visionplus and HID.

The visionplus doesn't change much of the "looks" of the headlight in terms of brightness or color but it does put more light out and light farther down on the road. Of course seeing even the VisionPlus next to HIDs is shocking...

If anybody contemplating the same is interested in the photos I can email them (still haven't hooked up with a photo hosting site).

Okay here are the pics. I found it's best to view 2 beam pattern pics at a time and toggle back and forth. That gives you a good impression of how it changed. The distance is hard to judge because of the lack of camera sensitivity but with stock I was at the end of the pavement and with Visionplus a good distance beyond that, so I tend to believe Philips claim of +20m. The broader width can be seen on the photos though.

Overall better than stock but far from HID of course. I am happy about the added safety margin for the money.

I just got OEM HIDs. I had the Hoen Xenomatch Plus H7 in there before. I can say that the Hoens came about 75% close to HIDs, the stock halogens were at about 15%. The Hoens were pretty darn close to xenon when it came to color and light output. The only thing my HIDs do great is throw light ALL OVER the road -- not just two blobs in the middle.

Just so you are aware there is a huge major HID theft going on. Theives are even hitting parking lots getting up to 40 headlights a day in one location!
I advise to stay away from HID'd period.
My body shop had told me this a long time ago and just read this in the paper 2 weeks ago about them hitting parking lots now. Parking lots I read about were in NJ.
So buy at your own risk and beware!

Actually considering how much they cost (at least $800) I'm surprised it took this long for the thiefs to catch on. Still wouldn't hold me back though if I had the money. But it is another reason to buy it only factory installed since the insurance would have to cover the theft for sure then...
