I am getting a code for my ABS that says Steering Angel sensor is bad, Call VW garage and said the it has been upgraded which now includes wiring, collar, Etc, at a cost of $600. Has anyone found a less expensive way to fix this issue?
I would probably start by removing the steering wheel, to take a look. I'm not familiar with the steering sensor, but would not be surprised if it is similar to the shifter position sensors; Hall effect transistors on a board, and a magnet attached to the steering wheel somehow. If that's how it is, be sure that the magnet is intact. Also, disconnect and re-connect the device's connector, preferably with a shot of contact cleaner on the receptacles.
