My co-worker has a 1987 BMW 525. The car starts and runs fine. Foot is on the break, you put it in gear, give it gas and it stalls  It trys to stay running, but it won't accelerate before stalling.

Any ideas?

is it possible the fuel filter is clogged and needs changing? is the air filter reasonably clean?

That's what I said about the fuel filter. Did those cars have fuel injection or carborators?

I am sure you mean a 528e or a 535i(s) if it is a '87 5 series. Let me know which one it is and what year so that I can tell you what to look for. The engine management systems are different.

You're asking an awful lot of her co-workers.
