I live in South Western Montana if it gets really bad Over (12'') I drive My Chevy Silverado 4X4 with snow tires.

I bought a 07 Passat 3.6 4 motion wagon it's my new daily driver. I'm saving $250 + a month on gas. I really like driving this car every day. My other summer car is a Porsche 911 Turbo (warm dry days only).

When the weather turns, what is a good winter tire for this car. We see some of the higest snow falls in the Rockies. Tracton & safety is my concern, the car has 235/45 R17 Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500. they are seem fine for summer. Any mountain wagon owners have winter tire recomendations.

I went with Dunlop Winter Sports as was very satisfied. I think it is a well balanced winter tire that performs well on dry pavement, slush, snow, and OK on ice. There are better ice specific winter tires but you give up on dry road handling.

Blizzack gets my vote. I used them on my cobalt ss the past 2 winters. They are 18s or I would put them on my passat this coming year.

What about wheel size?

I have heard that the 16'' are a no-go because of caliper size in the 2007 VR6 4 Motion.

Is it True?

if so whats the best 17" Tire size. I need grip in heavy snow country.

I 'm scouting for wheels right now.
