It's really beautiful.... well, costy too. About the same price as Passat 1.8T

For some reason the rear reminds me of the new RX8. I wouldn't mind driving this car just to work, but not for the price.

Is it the tailights?

698cc 3 cylinder turbo pushing 81 hp, placed mid/rear-engined (conflicting statements from the journalists). Unassisted steering. Around 1700 lbs. 0-60 in 11.2. Top speed, 112 mph. 48 mpg. Around $17k. It only comes with a Tiptronic-like tranny.

It's an interesting minimalist approach (I like that) but the power is not adequate in this version. I read that it is not likely to get to the US, but if it does it would have to get a boost in the engine area. i would test one if it did.

I bet it handles great.

The power is adequate for what it is IMHO. Its enough to throttle steer it if you lose grip and need an emergency manuever (though the auto tranny kinda prohibits that), but don't expect it to send the tires smokin' at every stoplight. In fact, it has about the same power to weight ratio as a stock 150 hp Passat, which is adequate IMHO. You won't realize how great the low curb weight is until you find yourself taking corners flat out when you used to brake hard for the same corner in your Passat. :wink:

Not offering a manual tranny in this kind of car is dumb. Weak engines and torque converters don't mix.
