My stock K03 turbo is starting to go. im thinking of going to the K04, but is it worth the money? should i rebuild stock and add GIAC or just bump up to K03s and chip.

if your car is tip just chip it it will last longer because the trans will go after a while
if it is stick than you won,t have a problems i was thinking of doing the same because a guy i know is selling a ko4 chip for 150 bucks but he told me whats up his was a tip and he had to replace the trans 3 times thats not worht it

what car do you have? have you done all the maintenance stuff...timing belt, tie rod ends, control arms, etc, if you have an older model. i have had my K04 for about 2 months installed now and love it. but you can have a lot of fun with the k03 chipped also. just depends on $$$$ and how long you're keeping car.

i have a 98 passat wagon 5-speed 1.8T of course... 65k on the motor, im going to be doing the timing belt thing very soon.... there is a place local that sells the K04 upgrade kit for $1500 which includes turbo, giac chip, forge DV, injectors, and FPR. i figure a chip installed is around $500 might as well spend a few more and get the works. tell me what yall think

Yes, Wett does have a K04 Chip. I tested it once and it was pretty good. You can't go wrong with any of the chip makers.. Cheaper has slightly less hp/tq, but u save $$. THe others offer more HP/TQ, but costs a bit more.

Good luck wit your choice. I'd say, if your not planning on getting anymore hp a K04 is the way to go. Its affordable and pretty reliable.

i have the k04 with the wett chip. My set up is fairly easy, and is a nite and day difference. Once you start the car and get in it , You will spin the tires no matter what because you are not used to the power. You will also have neck pains from jerking the car, due to the nice whistle that the k04 makes !!!!

p.S YOU also need a 5 bar fpr from Evo...

personally, i dont feel the K04s give enough bang for the buck. a chipped k03 with fmic, intake (k&n panel), and exhaust can put down close numbers. id go gt-28 r/rs: it will require some custom work, and may cost a bit more, but is also capable of way more... thats what im doin in july... ooo i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!

i think you produce much more torque with the ko4 than a chipped ko3.

so what would be more reliable: chipped ko3 or ko4?

If a standard K04 stage 2 kit is not enough for you, then think of the SuperK04 as stage 2.5. Since the outer dimensions of the turbo are still identical to the standard K04s, installation is clean and simple -- no adapters or custom fabrication required. Passat and Audi A4 models (B6 chassis) see 216HP at the wheels with just a cat-back exhaust.

Did Neuspeed ever finish their software for the older dive-by-cable Passats and A4s? According to the Neuspeed web site, they are still working on it, but the web site has not been updated since April.
