Driver let go of the steering wheel just in time!
ya. im not a racing car nut, so i don't know about this "letting go the steering wheel" thing is about.

If he'd not have let go he'd have no wrists/thumbs.
Look at the hands of a banger racer (think you lot call it Destruction Derby!!1 or something) - their thumbs are never "inside" the wheel for the same reasons
