A few years ago Cobra owners were angry to find that their cars were not making their advertised HP.

3 Q They represented that Ford's horsepower, the Cobra's
4 horsepower was three hundred twenty horsepower, but
5 in reality, what was the horsepower of the Cobra?
6 A I think based on the documents, they were lucky to
7 get three hundred five out of it. They were short
8 fifteen. Maybe eleven to fifteen.

Ford Later admitted fault and fixed the power defficit. They also cancled the 2000 model year, inability to meet advertised power was a given as one reason. Is GM about to face a similar situation with the 2003 CTS-V?

Z06s dyno 350-360rwhp all day long:

V's are dyno'ing at 310-330rwhp:

Cal: 332rwhp -- http://www.cadillacforums.com/forum...ead.php?t=11476

I have read all the info on the intake and exhaust being restrictive and GM wanting to keep the interior quiet, etc. That's fine... then GM should rate the hp accurately: it's not making 5hp less than the Z06...
The CTS-V is a 365hp car!

The above results would show a 364-388 Crank Shaft HP car assuming typical 15% drivetrain loss as seen in similar applications like the Z06. Additionaly despite a 50hp advertised advantage over the GTO, The new $33K GTO is making close to the same power at the wheels.

Is is time for CTS-V owners to stand up for their rights as the owners of 1999 Mustang Cobras have? They fought and won over a 15hp discrepancy, the CTS-V is showing as much as a 35 HP off advertised power ratings.

What is occuring with the CTS-V that is pulling it shy of it's advertised power? Maybe the courts will decide as they did with Ford?

owners of affected cars tend to make out like bandits, remember what the RX8 owners got for missing something like 5-10 hp got them? I think free service and cash back, or a buy-back offer.
I have been wondering this for a while. I know Caddy is advertising that car as having a 4.6 second 0-60, and to my knowledge, I have yet to see a magazine reproduce that.

Motor Trend, could only manage a 5.1 second, I mean thats half a second off...

hahahahahahahaha... i think i told someone here that the CTS-V was a joke...

hmmmmm... who was that...? will have to search...
It doesnt do anything for me anyways...

But it is a good car even with 365hp.

So Cadillac is using the same tactics on Public as they did in racing....NICE

Even the lowest number of 364 is still more than 98% of all people would ever use on the street, and still respectable. And comparing the much nicer CTS-V with a GTO is just plain silly.

American V-8 Power: 2004 Cadillac CTS V-Series

None of these bugs would keep us from signing on for one of the 3000-4000 Vs Cadillac plans to build, however. Take your choice between silver or black, but there'll be few other options available or required. Unfortunately, limited-edition cars have a sad history of nasty dealer markups, and we hope CTS-V buyers don't get victimized in this way.

2004 Cadillac CTS-V

WHAT'S HOT
· Ultra-high-performance with low-profile look
· Corvette-like braking, power, grip
· Strong value message for what it does

WHAT'S NOT
· Rubbery shift linkage
· Only two colors
· Historical threat of ZR-1-style markups

Low-volume, high-performance niche products are expensive to develop and hard to execute well. Fortunately, Cadillac already had a terrific chassis at hand and a time-tested engine and transmission nearby. The BMW M/Mercedes-Benz AMG formula of simultaneously upgrading a car's performance, luxury, appearance, and desirability quotients suits the CTS.

We're impressed by this car and look forward to putting it through our instrumented tests. Assuming it comes in at the projected $50,000-$53,000 price, it'll offer tremendous performance for the dollar in a roomy, five-passenger package that can be driven daily. The CTS-V will prove a good match for other 400-horse players like the Jaguar S-Type R--and a great racer when it hits the professional sports-car trail next season. But you didn't hear that one from us.

Anyway can you say M3  Because thats what I would get anyday over the Crapillac.

I think if it complete's the 0-60 and 1/4mi times at what GM says it will then who cares.

Just like the RX-8, they claimed 250hp and it was 215hp IIRC, but it still ran the 1/4mi in the time they said it would so no biggie IMO.
