I have the infamous sagging door card fabric and ideally would like to put a sort of padded "leather" where the padded fabric is now. I have heard this process is a real PITA but i will not accept bringing the door cards to an upholstery shop. I have heard that some people just paint on the plastic and don't apply any fabric or anything? how does this look or function? If i would like to apply a leather type material what would be the best for the concave shape? Just looking for a little insight because i want something that looks good but i don't want to be going at this project for days and I certainly do not ever want to deal with it again. Looking for a PERMENANT solution!

Thank you for those links! but I am also looking to hear what is a good padded material that will be able to be stretched into the curves of the door cards on our cars that will stay!

no problem with that.
I need to redo mine. My plan would be to use a sand bag to weigh down the area evenly while the spray adhesive dries

Honestly i got a little discouraged when i saw people saying that the job was pretty hard but im just going to go for it and I will put all my progress on my build thread (http://www.passatworld.com/forums/volkswagen-passat-b5-discussion/464857-1999-passat-timeline.html) in the next couple days when i get the materials!
Things like this are all about taking your time and thinking before acting. Test fit you material and how you will hold it in place while the adhesive dries before you start spraying the adhesive. And like painting time spent on surface preparation really pays off.

I just had someone take theirs to an upholstery shop. Cost $150 per door for a nice leather match!

150 per door really sounds ok since it is such an annoying process and i will keep that number in mind to decide if it would be worth it because i mean i need all of my doors done and that would be a total of 600. That being said it all depends on if I have that kind of money and if it bothers me that much.
