Hayes recommends doing this every 60K. Is this worth doing? Suppossedly an O2 sensor degrades but not necessarily fails catastrophically to the point where Motronic raises a fault. Replacing the sensor should improve fuel economy. We are talking about $600 for all four sensors. Plus there is a possibility that the new sensors and/or the installation of them could create new problems.

What should I do?

Hmm that's a lot of money. I haven't heard of that service schedule for your V6 Passat. The official one from VW.com shows no interval for O2 sensors. Check this website out for more service intervals and welcome to Cb5.
