My monsoon speakers are rattling my doors haha. Well at least the front right passenger door, how can i insulate the door or something to get rid of that sound?
Take the loose objects out of your door pocket. That's not a joke; when I got my '04 I had a rattle in there that turned out to be a couple of coins under the rubber pad. (You do have the rubber pad, right?) Failing that, the door should not rattle - if it is, take off the panel and see what's come loose. No additional insulation needed. My monsoon speakers are rattling my doors haha. Well at least the front right passenger door, how can i insulate the door or something to get rid of that sound?
It really doesn't. As far as factory systems go, it's quite good - superior, IMHO, to the factory-optional Bose offered in some cars. Monsoon could actually use a (small) real subwoofer, to flesh out the bottom end - as opposed to the funky "feed extra bass to the rear woofers" trick. That system sucks. try an aftermaket radio and some MB quarts. You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
So have I my friend (installed for a living). It is good for factory, but pales in comparison to even entry level aftermarket equipment. My Avic-Z2, MB quart reference front stage and single RF 10" subwoofer blows it away. Granted, that stuff isn't entry level, but you get the picture. :wrench: Good thing I don't really worry about theft. It really doesn't. Oh, of course you could do better with higher-end aftermarket gear - I used to install car stereo systems for pay. But you'd have to spend a good bit, and it wouldn't look factory - and would likely attract thieves.
First, tell us what you want to do. Just replace a bad rear speaker? VAGuy may have another suggestion, but if that's it and you only have $100, just replace it with an OEM Monsoon speaker. It's an integrated system with speaker-specific equalization built into the amp; you shouldn't replace parts piecemeal. If you change one of the speakers for something different, you should change them all; and you should then change the amp as well.Im most likely going to spend around $100 for the back speakers, any good options?
That's one way to go, but make sure the part numbers are exactly the same. A lot of times, the "Monsoon" speakers on eBay are actually the regular ones. They're different.Yeah just the back right speaker is blown. I didnt know about any of that though, im guessing ebay for the oem one?
(Heh) I'm not an expert, I'm just old and have done a lot of stuff. I'd rather buy from a "person" instead of an eBay slimer any day. But still, check the part numbers and general appearance.Lets see what scotts13 has to to say![]()
