Hey, this might be considered a follow-up thread to my low oil pressure epic story because I'm pretty sure i'll need to replace the main bearings from my car.

Well, while fooling around on ETKA i came accross three differente color codes for these, all they meant for the AEB engine and all for the same manufacturing date.

I called a dealer and the guy said the he never noticed this :icon_eek::icon_eek: and that they always sold the "yellow" one with no complains.

So, if the dealer doesn't know, there's gotta be someone around here that does. They guys from 1stvwparts also told me they usually sell the yellow ones and they also didn't know what that means.

Usually with bearings different colors mean how thick they are. That's atleast how they are with my Integra.

Humm, makes sense! You're referring to that 0.25 0.50 0.75 over sized measures right? But how do I know which color refers to each measure?

Exactly, wish I could help you with the colors and sizes but I can't. I can guarantee that the colors are different sizes though.

Are you intending to change the main bearings while the engine is in the car? Good luck, that's the hard way to do it. And usually you would want to see the journal condition and measure before ordering.

No, my miss, the engine is already off the car. Actually I just spoke to the mech: I'll need to replace all my internal bearings, piston rings and of course all the gaskets involved.
