Probably as low a CR as you want, as long as the pistons are custom made. Also, are you saying the pistons for the 2.8 are then to be used in a 2.7? The bore is different.
Rebuilding 2.8: what are the lowest compression ratio pistons
i am rebuilding the 2.8 out of my 2003 Passat sedan. What is the lowest CR pistons I can put in the block? I am keeping an eye on a Future 2.7 swap, and would like to only buy pistons once. Can I put 9:1 pistons in the 2.8, keeping in mind that it will be N/A for about a year.
