I just had my tires rotated and balanced and noticed some new tire noise. These are Dunlop SP Sport A2's, with 14000 miles on them, plenty of tread wear left. One tire, now on L front, shows some cupping on the edges (different heights from the rear of one tread block to the front of the next), worse than on any of the other tires. The noise is pretty annoying, but I don't notice it when the radio is on. Any ideas on how I can improve it? Will it go away on its own now that the tire's been rotated? How long should it take? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Mac. Do you mean that I should return them to their original positions? I don't understand how that will do anything except progressively make the problem worse. Or should I move them straight back to the rear axle, not crossing them to their original side? Thanks!

Yep, return them to the original positions. The problem will get worse, but it won't make noise, so who cares. Thus is life with softer compound tires on a FWD Passat.

Yea basically you were too late to rotate your tires. So if you don't want the noise put it back and just let it wear out back there.
