At $18.99 each, they're no deal compared to the Bosch Icon blades from AutoZone, but I wondered if anyone had any experience with these on a B5/5.5. Particularly durability, and how they adapt to the VW wiper arm.

They're very similar to the aero blades on most B5.5s. I have them on my B5, and they work great.

I believe the rain-x wipers just clip on like any other wipers. Durability I cannot speak for, since I have never tried them, but I'll assume they last just as long as reg wiper blades.

I have the Valeo Aero blades from Tirerack.com and they seem to be very good. I've had them for about 1.5 years and aside from a small section on the passenger side where it misses, the durability has been great.

i'm running with the bosch ICON wipers. theyre pretty nice, they are the same blade as the aeros, but the difference is in the mounting. it sticks out a tad more, but the effect is noticeably good.

x2...love the ICON blades, especially since stopshopanddrive has refills for cheap :)

Just treat your windows once a month with rain-x product and it makes a bigger difference than using the latitude blade.

I just can't stand that Rain-x on my front window, just makes a big haze, especially at night with lights hitting it. Good wipers shouldn't need rain-x to make them work better. Just my 2 cents.

I have the bosch Icons and they work great, i also use Rain X on my windshield and that helps when it rains...i don't feel it creates a haze at all. Maybe if you don't "buff" it all out i could see it happening.

i never tried any of these wipers. i use stock a8 refills and just cut of the extra. but i do run the rain-x de-icer in the winter which has rain-x in it and after 35mph i dont need the wipers on more than the slowest setting. even with the regular rain-x i never had the haze.

Are the ICON blades better than the similar OEM ones? I have a 2003 GLS, and this is perhaps more of a refill question, but what is better than my "please refill the wiper blades" annual request at the dealership when I take it in for an oil change? I know there's better, hopefully at the same cost or cheaper. Last time I researched this I went with some TriplEdge brand or something at Wal-Mart that was recommended to me on here and they were crap- burned and just went back to dealer replacements, but they 'skitter' on the glass too. I'm just looking for smooth, quiet blades.

My .02: I've had the Icons a few months, work great, look great. I use RainX washer fluid for 2 reasons--no haze like the wipe-on/wipe off kind, & it keeps these m-f'ing Texas & Louisiana insects from gluing themselves to my windshield!

actually, the ICON blades are the same exact type of blade, if not exactly the same blade. the only difference i've noticed is that the icon uses the aero's blade with a different mount, as a way to comercialize their blades to the public masses.

same blade, different mount flavor.

You know your suppose to wipe off the product after the haze appears right??

Rain-X (the liquid product) will improve visibility no matter what type of wipers you use.

I know I can't be the only one who has used Rain-x and had the haze issue, but then maybe I'm the only one it really bothers.

Yes, I'm fully aware that the product is to be applied and them cleaned off, repeated and then wiped, even using sprinkles of water to help clear haze. It's not that haze that I'm referring to, it's when you're driving at night and your wipers swipe the window, right after that happens there is a brief moment of haze or streak (whatever you want to call it). I'm not sure if its millions of micro beads of water that are left behind or if it's a culmination of chemical/water that streaks, but it does exist, though I may be the only person to claim to have seen it. You know, wipers on a window without Rain-x also do a slight streak or haze, as it may be, but for some reason it doesn't reflect oncoming light like I notice on the Rain-x.

And If I buffed off the haze after application any more than I already do, I think I would be reducing the thickness of my windshield. It's not because I can't follow their directions that's for sure.

I've not used the Rain-X blades on the Passat, but, last fall, when Pep Boys had their BOGO free sale, I picked up sets for the other 2 cars (didn't have the right ones in stock for the Passat). They've been fine. I can't complain.

I've got a '99 B5. It's time to replace my wiper blades. Can I use the Bosch Icon blades from AZ, or are they a "specialty" wiper like the Aero's? (i.e., I am vaguely familiar with the Aero blades in that I can't use them--or would have to change something in order to be able to use them.)
