Can someone please tell me if this sounds correct.
So my hood has chips and whatnots, I take it to a shop and he tells me my car was in a front end accident prior to me owning it. (funny, I wasn't ever told that! ) And here's the kicker: When they REPLACED the hood they didn't put down primer (the cheap way) and he says that the chips will keep happening because it wasn't ever primed!
*Does it sound correct to pay $800 for them to sand it down, prime, paint, and blend the fenders?* Sounds a little outragous to me.

That sounds pretty close to me. Sucks that you got jipped on the deal with a damaged, non primered, hood.
For supplies, paint, primer, hardner, etc., and labor, it will all add up!

I got my hood repainted for $250. That's the top and underside of the hood. I bought my hood from a b5er and it was another colour. The hood also had chips and a dent on the front side of it. FWIW.

$800 to get it repainted?

Might want to look into what a Carbon Fiber hood costs if you have ever thought about getting one
a CF hood is around $600 . that is what i am doing. my dog distroyed my stock hood(great dane) . so now i get to upgrade and not feel bad about the money because i have to fix it any way. but now the dog is not alowed within 35ft of my car.

I don't think a carbon fiber hood would go to well with the look of my car. Does primer really make that much of a difference? I'd have to do a porn movie topay for this :weirdo: ! A gay one would get me some mre accesories though...J/K

If it isn't too bad... I would just hold off for someone to hit you. When I lived in LA, I got hit 4 times in 2 years. More bumps then strong hits... but still enough to have the bumpers repainted... So thats my advice... wait to get bumped... then when its in the shop already, have them do the hood too (since they will already have the car there and the paint mixed).

I would love to have my hood repainted too...so many chips, but for $800, I could easily use that money on something that would make the car more fun to drive.

I had a little dent fixed in my hood and it cost me $450 cause the dent chipped the paint. I woudl say $800 isn't ridiculous.

Friends dont let friends go to Maaco! Stay away stay far far away from Maaco. Maybe thats where the car had the first paint work done with no primer

part of the reason a quality body garage charges you something like $800 for a painting your hood is because they take the time to do it right and blend into your fenders or surrounding panels because your old factory paint has faded and fresh new paint wont match exactly to your old faded paint so they blend it in so that it'll look right
