so i get this boost guage second hand so no instructions except the ones on here. i have everything strait except how i'm supposed to install the hose to boost guage adapter

I have the 1.8" line, an adapter which fits the guage and the guage itself. Inside the adapter i find this little brass cylinder that is tapered on both sides. I'm guessing that when i tighten the adapter on the guage the brass cylinder gets smaller and causes it to seal. Is this right or am i missing a peice?

If you need pics of the specific parts let me know.

I am guessing that this is some type of compression fitting? I would have to see pics to be sure. If it is a compression fitting, the hose should snugly fit through the tapered cylinder between the cap nut(looks like a hex nut capped off on one side but with a hole for the hose to pass through) and threaded male connector which the hose and brass tapered thingy should also fit into. this link has a picture of one , just look at the left side of the picture

that's it!!!
so i should just tighten it down and it should work right?
I installed a Nuespeed gauge & pod. The instructions I received said wrap a little plumbers tape around the thread first. That very thin white tape!
