I ordered Ultimate Timing belt kit from ESCtuning. I am going to replace TB this fall. I was looking over all the parts and noticed that a TB tensioner
is not included in this kit. Are most TB failures on 1.8T? The kits for the 1.8T's have the tensioner and the V6's do not. Should I replace the tensioner?

Tensioner failures on early 1.8ts were fairly common. AFAIK, the tensioners on V6s are not a problem.

Your kit probably includes the tensioner roller which is probably more likely to fail than the tensioner itself. I recently did my TB and did not replace the tensioner.

Thanks for your input. I guess ECStuning would have included the tensioner if
it was really needed. I still feel like I should replace it because it takes alot of work to get the front end in the service position.

thanks
Tom
