I have an 03 with black leather interior. If I was too get another Passat I would like it to be the same, but from the VW website thru "Built your own" it says that wood comes with the leather package.

So you can't get leather without getting wood anymore? I hate wood, if this is true I would have to get velour :puke:

What's wrong with wood? Have you had any bad experiences with it?

You can always replace the wood with aluminum trim kits or something else. Just wondering.
I just don't like wood in my cars, at all. When I'm 50 I'll get wood in my car, but I got a long way to go until then :D

For now I like more modern looks, aluminum, carbon fiber, etc.

And I don't want to buy a car with wood just to have to replace all the panels.

Wood

Actually I like the wood trim. I hate leather. (too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer) I'd like to get a GTX but you're stuck with leather.

I'm with you Paradigm. I don't like wood in cars either. It can give a stuffy and pretentious feel, in my opinion.
Yeah, wood is great for my parents, but for me I want something a little more contemporary.

BTW, does VW even offer wood in the Passat, or is it colored plastic??

my understanding is that it is real wood (albeit a very thin sliver)

i personally like the wood trim, but to each his own. you could always sell the wood trim when you buy the aluminum trim.

I just can't see myself pulling all the panels out of a new car.

then don't order the wood package. it doesn't come standard on the GLS.

if you get the V6, then you get wood with leather... if you get the 1.8T, then you get leather with no wood.

get the 1.8T.
All I ever planned on getting is the 1.8T, but that's what came out with Wood with leather.

Either way, my surrent lease is over September 05, right when the new Passats come out. I'm sure things will change then.
