(http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3347405 ) To paraphrase that linked post, my wastegate is in need of repair. I think a steel washer over the nub then peened would work.
Here is a similar fix. http://www.passatworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202265&highlight=peened He drilled through the flap and threaded it.
I think just forcing a nut on there could work.
Should I get stainless or regular? Nut or washer? , and can my friend with a welder just put a dot on the edge of the nub to keep the washer/nut on? or can I peen over the old stainless nub - is stainless malleable?
TIA
