I am going to be installing a pyrometer real soon, and was wondering if anyone knows the difference in temperatures before and after the turbo. The reason why I am asking is because the probe which came with VDO gauge is too long to be mounted in the exhaust manifold, and it seems that the only place it will fit is directly behind the turbo leading to the cat.
Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

just make sure that sensor can withstand some crazy heat, since the turbo likes to turn all the metal orange on itself adn parts of the cat after a nice hard drive.

Pre-turbo will give more-accurate temps, but the probe may disrupt the (somewhat) smooth flow of exhaust gas onto the turbine. If you have a stock exhaust manifold, this won't matter much.

Post-turbo will give lower temps, but may have less effect on the exhaust flow.

Try installing pre-turbo first & see if there is any loss of performance.
