I am on the verge of buying a Neuspeed 1.1BAR chip for my car [I know I know, the APR one is better, but also more expensive mind you].

I am hesitant however, because my warranty is active until 90k miles and I've got a ways to go.

If you could compile a list of the pros/cons of chipping a car with an active warranty Other than OBVIOUS pros and cons mind you I would greatly appreciate it.

Pro: it makes the engine come alive
Con: you'll have wrinkles on your face from the permanent grin

I chipped mine with the GIAC at 5k miles with 95k miles left on my warranty.

I was faced with the same question:

1. Chipping during warranty may void it, may not, depending on how it's installed and who makes it. However, sometimes you can get broken parts fixed under warranty if you mask the chipping carefully.

2. Chipping after warranty means you have no warranty to void, but be prepared to pay out the a$$ for repairs on major components (tranny, etc.)

My solution was to get an Acura 3.2CL Type-S and keep the Passat for the commute.

Lol... if he could afford another ECU, it would be better to just get an APR DPP chip, those are undetectable as far as I know.
