Hello,
We have an issue with starting car. The fob does nothing at all, steering wheel is locked. It’s Passat 2006, TDI 2.0.

What happened:
  • I came to a closed door. The fob didn’t work, and we opened only with manual key from the fob.
  • The steering wheel was jammed by that time.
  • We put the key in the ignition. Nothing happened, no sound, only the light for the steering wheel pops up.
  • We checked the fob, the problem is not battery.
  • Also, we tried to charge the car battery with crocodile clips, but it didn’t help either. So, battery ain’t the problem.
Do you have any advice what to do?

The problem lays in your Steering Colom Lock.
It is part of the Immobilizer in your car.

It needs to be replaced with a new one (you can’t us a used one, unless you replace it with the ECU and CCM as well from the donor car, and you need the key fobs from the donor car as well then)

If you buy a new one, it needs to be learned to the car by VW.
