From what I heard, there should be 4 braided vacuum hoses on ATW/AWM.

I've managed to find #1,2,4 on that ATW picture above on my AWM engine, but I can't find #3.

Here's a picture of the engine bay (AWM, coolant tank moved out of the way). According the ATW picture, there should be a braided vacuum hose runs as dotted line C does. But I can't find it. There's a bigger braided line B, but I'm sure it's not what I'm looking for. Also there's a short L-shaped rubber tubing at position A that is similar size as the vacuum hose and is hold by a similiar clamp. If there was a line like #3 on ATW, it must be connecting to this place. But that thing not connecting to anything else.:crazy:

AWM guys, any ideas? Please help me to find the damn line (if any). Thanks!:thumbup:

I don't recall that I saw braided line attached the canister. Let me climb onto the engine to take a picture. :lol:

Finally I found the line on my engine. However it's not braided one anymore. When my car was in for 60k maintenance service, my tech discovered a leak in that line and replaced the line for me. Now it's a black rubber kinda thing, not sure if it's as good as the silicon that I put on, but for now it's in good shape. Do I need to replace it? Debating.... :lol:

The line runs like this, form the check valve under the intake manifold between intake #3 and #4, to the silver canister behind the engine block.

How do guys replace the line from somewhere under the intake to the diverter valve? Looks like it's really difficult to get access to it. Do I need to remove the throttle body? And How?

So you unscrew three bolt and put it down a bit and replace the hose? Is there enough space if you leave the throttle body on?
I'm really afraid of the freaking hose clamps that vw put on. What a PITA to remove them! :banghead:
