Noobs to this website and Passatworld, please don't post questions in this forum about things you want to know about your car.

You will not be able to post anywhere until you get at least two posts in this forum - not this thread, this forum. In addition, if you are here just to sell items in our Classified forums, you have to have 25 posts total.

Generic questions, like "What kind of exhaust system should I buy?," or "What's the best chip for my car?," or "What kinds of mods are people running?" need to be posted here in the B5, in the B6 or in the B7 forums.

So you ask, "How do I know what model I have? This guy says B5, B6, or B7, and I have no idea what he is talking about!" Model years 1997 to 2005 are B5 or B5.5 models; 2006 to 2011 are B6 models; and, 2012 and up are B7 models.

Are you a "Do it Yourself" (DIY) type of person? Specific questions about "how to DIY" need to be put in the B5 Garage, in the B6 Garage, or in the B7 forums.

If you are looking for a specific DIY that you are reasonably certain should exist for B5 or B5.5 (and most of it exists, so please search), check out the Information Base forum. There is no Information Base forum for the B6 or B7 yet, but with your help in posting how-to posts, we'll get there.

Thanks, and we hope you enjoy the website!
Jay

bumping this again - please don't ask questions in this forum... the top three new threads are doing exactly that, even though this sticky is up for all newcomers to read.

Bump. Please do not ask questions in this forum section. This is a launching pad for the rest of the forum once you get 2 posts in. Almost nobody comes in here and it discourages many a new member because nobody answers their quesitons

Bump. I have been inundated with new members signing up and go straight to posting a new thread about with a question or problem; the majority of the time, they post it in the wrong forum. I mean not even close to the correct area. Because the new forum software employed by the site owners removed all safeguards and restrictions to prevent things like this, along with their total lack of response to any of our problems or questions since the update, I will be taking a somewhat less passive approach to clean up the forums.

Those new members who do not post in the new member forum and read the rules and guides before posting elsewhere (which will clue you in on where and how to post new threads) will likely have their thread deleted or closed until they can figure out where the correct place is. I may not catch all, but don't feel bad if yours ends up being one of them. Hopefully more people read this.
