Sirs

Lashing eyes chrome /chrome
Unnecessary but nice

Coming from Audi RS6 / VW Bora Highline
1J0 864 203 D ZZ, 12,37 € each

Say hello to Mr. Cool(ant cap)

Comes from Audi R8 and adds further 10 hp
ETKA No.: 420 121 321, 52,90 €
Little modifying needed to lock in the right angle. No problem.

Because i was pissed of the missing lighting under my bonnet, i designed an own one by using

a) A prefabricated, self adhesive LED strip, 30 LED´s, 60 cm (availiable on ebay)

b) auto level switch ( bought at the German "radio shack")

c) VAG housing
1x 1J0 972 923 0,88€
1x 191 972 712 2,32€

VAG Wires
1x 000 979 133 (1,0 mm²) 1,52€
1x 000 979 129 (1,0 mm²) 1,52€

d) own made holder, from a piece of alloy (10x25mm), folded and sticked with "bond and seal" under the bonnet

Soldered switch with wires and shrinking hose:

added housing:

fixed:

You can see the switch carrier in the upper right corner

The switch is fixed with a tie rap at the carrier

The result:
Prince of the light :p

When opening the bonnet, the led strip lights up automatical

Power supply lead off from the battery.Of course with a fuse carrier and a 7,5 Amp. fuse (hidden in the battery bay).Ground supply at the bonnet beneath the noise absorbing mat :wrench:

How hard was installing the Auto Dim mirror? I've been searching for one with the ambient lighting for a bit.
Sir

Very easy, but i have to confess that mine is the "poor solution", which means that it´s only dimming (no re-dimm function when driving backwards). This is O.K. to me.
For this kind of installing you only have to connect switched ignition and ground.
You have to obey that there are two versions which are not interchangable.
With rain sensor and without.

I think this is illegal, too. ;)

"Die dritte Bremsleuchte darf - wie andere Beleuchtungseinrichtungen - nicht verdeckt sein - auch nicht teilweise."

But it looks good.

After i bought a used glove box in stock last year, i processed an outstanding mod to it.

Can´t wait to get your feedback on this extraordinary mod.

Sirs

Hey.You didn´t really thought that this was te whole story, did you?
Stickin´ a pissy badge is not really something i would call a mod :p

As mentioned, i purchased the glove box last year to have it in stock, for potentially repairs.
Because i had some free time between 21.12/06.01 i decided to dissamble the whole unit for reinforcing purposes, to avoid futurity damages.
While doing this, i decided to remove a further weak point :The lighting.
The OEM lamp was removed, and the originated hole was closed by a piece of tin, which is used now as a micro switch carrier (found one at our inc., originally used for fire protection flaps)

An actuator also had to be installed:

5mm studscrew

Actuator:Check
Switch:Check
Lights:???????

Here we go:

24 holes for 24 LED´s (white,5mm,10k mcd/20° Radiation angle), soldered together in 6 groups of 4 LED´s.
Each group downstreamed to one resistor of 100 ohms /1 w

Tadaaaaa:
..........and i said:"There will be light!"

Not ready yet! :wrench:

Stage 2: ;)

Cupholder lighting:

6 x same LED´s as before, assembled in 2 groups of 3 LED´s downstreamed to one resistor (each group) of 270 ohms / 1w .

Looks like this:

BTW:The power supply was processed too.The gloveboxe´s light, lights up now when opening, without the need of actuating the light switch (something i was nerved of)

Ready?
Not really.Soldering iron had been warmed up one time so.............

Stage 3

There had been two LED sets left over from my door-handle modding, http://www.passatworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=264728
,and profuseness is a sin .
So i drilled two wholes into the gloveboxes lid.Left and right beneath the handle and stationed those LED´s there.

front sight:

May i ask :
