After towing fellow newbies Chris and Tom around Rockledge Park lost, we finally found the place and met up with Mike right before- we were the first Passats to arrive. Pretty cool that most everyone else showed up within 5 minutes since we thought we'd be really late.

As promised in good time, here are the photos (sorry they are so big- hope nobody's on dial-up). I also got a good front 3/4 angle shot of everyone's car there, so if you would like that (or another photo you requested that I take for you), please PM or E-mail me at [email protected] and I'll send it your way. Lorenzo took off too quickly in his Miata for me to grab one though! Enjoy.

P.s.: Kudos and an excellent job on the bratwurst-dogs, Phil- probably the best I've had. I enjoyed getting to know everyone and checking out all the sweet rides. I now have a laundry list of mods to make my Mastercard wince in pain!

Nice pics! That one of bratwurst is making me hungry. I can't believe they had a ranger come by and make you pour out your beer  . Nice looking gtg, do you have anymore pics of the Blue Silver B5?

That ranger was funny. She asked to check the coolers,we all said ok. We did not know Phil had the beer.

The Silver Blue is new, check with GTakacs to see if he has pics. Also look
for Eiki's fine Silver Blue with body kit from the last GTG here:

The brats were amazing- I got a couple with some spicy mustard on buns. Already have some on my grocery list to buy this weekend! :weirdo:

I regret that I can't remember the name of the guy with that new blue-silver B5.5, but it's his wife's. Someone will correct me shortly, but he's an Audi guy and it's the first time he's ever showed up in a Passat! I got one other photo of it to my knowledge...

The beer episode was interesting- the ranger (Army Corps of Engineers) came up wanting to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, if we knew about the 'no bottles/no alcohol' rule and wanted to check the coolers. I had just found out prior to this that there was some Michelob in there and my heart sank- couldn't say no! I brought tons of Coca-Cola cans that were chilling on top of of everything else in the beer cooler, and there were only 3 beers at the bottom! This ranger was unfortunately thorough in the raid! Poor Phil had to pour the ale out ("I'll let you have the honors of pouring it out for me, ok?" was what the ranger said... well hip hip hooray!...). I did everything I could to not run over, stand underneath the can and start lapping it up like water out of a hose! It hurt to watch. That's like, an illegal action in Texas. She didn't check the Passats- next time we keep it there.

Looks like you guys had a good turn out and the weather held out for ya to.

btw, YES it is illeagal to pour a perfectly good beer out. I wonder what the consequences would have been if you went over and started lapping it up. :weirdo:

Maybe tell me to leave? I think she had a beat-stick, but no gun. :p Not worth it- I'd rather hang out with other B5 gearheads and have a beer later. The episode just made the afternoon even more amusing!

Man on man, it's a good thing she made you dump out the beer. Or we may have seen some man-on-man action... aw. :puke:

But seriously, put the beers in the glovebox next time. Those German engineers didn't just put an AC vent in the glovebox to keep your, uh, gloves cool. :D

But you still had a good time. And memories of bitchy rangers.

Yeah, nice and cool by the lake. The 25mph wind over the water really kept it cool. Temp was about 93 and humid.
The south side of the lake (my house) was really hot and humid.
