I've never thought about tinted tails on my car as Mojave Beige is so light and I didn't think it would look so good. Besides the red contrasts so well with the gold. However, OE tails are just so frighteningly red that I wouldn't mind taking the edge off... Gnosis did:

And I was wondering how that level of tint would look on my car:

So, photoshop it! I would wanna be sure before I commited to something like this. Also do you think extra light is even worth it? I like it because its tinted, but still red.

Use your imagination.
Here's a quick preview:

Tinted:

Here's the link to the PSD file which you can adjust the tint opacity on your own to varying levels.

btw... the file is about 1.8 MB so patience.

Dooooood, do a light stage 2 tint. I was thinking the same thing as you after I painted my 99 but Jon suggested the light tint and it's dark enough so that the tails don't look kinda funky like in the pics, but more of a black cherry color.

here's a pic

I like ur tails Paul but I wanna make sure I can still see the 2 circle pattern and have them seem red.

You'll be able to. During the day they usually look like a *slightly* darker red and as it gets darker so does the color. It's hard in the pics but you can distinguish all of the lens separations of the tails in person.

Hmm, that does sound interesting. I just wanna make sure its red. My color scheme is Gold Red and Black (a la German Flag I guess) but it really works. I don't wanna screw up the look but the stock tails are just hideously red... Anyone have pic of a "light" tinted B5.5?

Oh yeah, Wapptor is always on AIM

On another note, this is light tint aparrently. I like this look:

Maybe I'll do that.

Well lets just say i was pretty bored so these are ALL of your possibilitys (might want to add a 56k warning to this one):
Also the darknesses i choose are just at random, Jonboys light might be darker then i made it or his medium might be darker, etc.
EXTRA LIGHT:

LIGHT:

MEDIUM

DARK:

Here is the tints with the white left out only the red part tinted:

Very cool. I like the white not tinted and it dark
Well Jordan you sure have a lot of free time on your hands  :p
Now I am sooooo undecided, however I think custom tails cost more (???) It is an interesting idea. Suggestions anyone?

I would just tint the white part medium!
I'm thinking it might look cool to tint everything but the red circles. And then for those with WAY too much time on their hands, tint a VW emblem inside those red circles...

Alright it is hot, but I don't like the euro rub strip sorry...at least not on this color. If someone comes out with a dual exhaust like that for 1.8t anytime soon let me know however. It'd be hotness (and tails of about that darkness are in the works!)
