I removed the driver side cat. assy. with no issues, but the passenger side upper nut I can't seem to get the right tool for it. I have the "snorkle" removed and I've tried to get a tool on it from the top side, but the Kombi valve (EGR) is in the way to get access to the top nut. Does any one have a trick to get this nut? The driver side top nut was easy since the EGR valve was not in the way.

Any help is appreciated.

I put a combi wrench on it, then push down on the open end of the wrench with a long pry bar (inside the open flat area) to break the bolt loose. You have to work a bit blind, but it can be done. You can also remove the O2 sensor to be able to get a socket in there.

Not sure if I understand what You've written, but the only thing that worked on the others was a 6 point stubby racheting wrench. An open end would start to strip once you put some force into it for me. Even with the O2 sensor removed the bung for the sensor appeared to block the deep well 6 point socket from aligning correctly onto the nut. But it sounds like the EGR valve can be left in place. Any thoughts?

Thanks

You use the closed end on the nut and the pry bar inside the open end as an extension/punch for leverage. It's enough to break the nut loose and then you can remove it with the wrench alone.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I need a offset combi wrench. The back of the block extends and has the nut slightly recessed so that you can't get squared on the nut with a straight combi wrench.
