It's been like this since I got the car, but I've never attempted to fix it. Basically the airbag cover / door for the passenger side seems like it's not sitting flush with the dashboard. Is there a way to remove it or re-align it or is it unadvisable to mess with the airbags??

Thanks!
Tre

dashboard & airbag not flush

all three of my Passats have been that way. '98 '99 and '03 W8. It bugs me too, given how overall fit & finish in the cabin is so good.

The German engineers must have a reason...

Is it OK to try to use force to re-align the door? Don't want that airbag popping out on me!

Thanks,
Tre

PS - Surely someone on here has had the DEALER fix this....anyone?

Mine is the dame way on my 2001. Must be a reason, I can't imagine that we would all have this problem if there wasn't a reason.

My drivers front support airbag cover sticks out from the trim of the liner. Anyone else? :nervous:

They are all like that, i have not seen one Passat with it flushed, but maybe i am wrong. I would love to see if there is a fix for it, but it does not bother me much

It is flush on my '02 variant.
There are clips on the inside of the cover, and they push into the receivers on the inside of the dash.
Try pushing it down and see if it holds, if it doesnt buy some new clips and try again
