$45 or so to ensure that the cams are set correctly is not so much, considering the value and importance of the whole job. I bought the tool set (cam lock and crank lock pin) for my 12V 2.8, from Koch tools. I may not use those tools again, but the quality was so nice that I clear-coated the thing and hang it in my garage for decoration! Sorry to say that it won't work on a 30V engine.
