Thank you for the reply. I don't really understand the B classes yet. Is this on the door sticker? How is this determined?

Generation/Platform is what the B# refers to.
1 B1 (Typ 32; 1972–1984)
2 B2 (Typ 32B; 1981–1988)
3 B3 and B4 (Typ 35i; 1988–1996)
3.1 1993 facelift (Passat B4)
4 B5 and B5.5 (Typ 3B and 3BG; 1997–2006)
4.1 2001 facelift (Passat B5.5 – Typ 3BG)
5 B6 (Typ 3C; 2005–2010) and B7 (2010-2015)
5.1 Passat CC
5.2 2010 facelift (Passat B7)
6 B8 (Typ 3G; 2015–present)

as a side bar, the B5 and B5.5 split is in the 2001 model year......for me the easiest way I identify is,the B5.5s have the AWM engine (if you have the 1.8 engine) and they have one piece headlamps (headlamps and turn signals are one unit)

My car shuts off randomly every now n then. I replaced the battery n the alternator n the starter is good. Idk what's going on. I took it to auto parts store n had the whole system checked. No check engine lights or anything. I drive the vehicle back n forth to work n this happens around 70degree weather. Always when I stop at a light, never when actually rolling/driving after about 20mins of driving. I also drive wit headlights on most of the time. Please help guys this has happened 5 times in a period of 3weeks!
Check your manifold. it might be cracked

And to put more salt on the wound, Passat is called a B-car while Audi models are identified as A-car. :censored:
No, the A4 is called a B and is now a B9, well ahead of the Passat. The B5 Audi is mechanically a near twin to the B5 Passat. The A3 and the Golf were A models, the A6 is a C model and the A8 a D model.

Thus A is B and B is B and A is C as well as A is D. :p

Very happy with my 2013 CC. Smooth, economical (30 hwy, manual tranny), reliable, and sporty enough for me.
I used to have a 2013 CC 2.0T Sport with DSG. Loved it. handled well, but not when pushed hard. Needed some suspension upgrades for at the limit driving. I traded it on my A4 which blew it away. with the Sport package on my A4, it handles like an S4, just down about 100hp.
