My 2002 Passat 48K just got towed :( Had it parked in the rain for a week. Turn it on and then i get an airbag warning. Turn it off then on, then the dash says "stop" low oil pressure. Turn it on then off same thing, then it dies and wont turn on... Any guesses on what the prob is?

Also warranty is until 50k right?

A car shouldn't go *POOF* because it sits in the rain (but, boy howdy, has it been raining up here in CT). I could see them denying the claim if it was swept away by the raging Housatonic River, but in your case, I think it should be covered. Pretty poor design, IMO, to have a hidden drain that causes bad damage if it gets plugged. Cleaning that puppy out should be on the maintenance schedule... If they try to deny, I'd put up a stink...

I'll bet it's as simple as a bad battery. Don't worry. Passats do some wieird shit when the batteries fail. The battery in my 02 died in July....the indications I had were bizzarre. I though it had a major meltdown. Dealer replaced battery; all is good now.

If it's your ABS Module they're going to try to nail you with at least a $1200 bill. They got me, but I didn't know I could have bought a used one, or had mine rebuilt for much cheaper. Watch out.

Nope. Looks like the car is still under warranty according to the first post. But yes, anyone out of warranty should look into a used or rebuilt unit instead of the dealer.

I got the same issue this weekend. I even need to sleep in a shelter on sat. night. In fact, I be able to jack up my car on a ramp that day. And, bucket most of the water out. Got towl on Monday. The dealership willing to fix all the issue under the warranty. But, what kind of aftermath issue will I facing since it consider flooded?

Mine (2002 1.8T) flooded due to the rain thru the sunroof. Since it flooded my passenger side only, it got to my Tranny computer (TCM?) which caused the all the dummy lights to go on and prevented me from shifting out of Park. I called my trusty NJ VW guy and he instructed me to rip up the carpet, get the TCM out of its tomb (which was loaded with water) and dry out that computer.
I took the computer out of its metal casing (simply bent up the little metal tabs and pulled it apart), took the hair blowdryer to it for a few minutes and replaced it. All is now fine except the airbag light remains on. I attribute this to either the removal of my passenger seat (to dry my carpet and padding) or the leak, which trickled down from the sunroof to the pillar on the passanger side, onto the dash, into the glovebox and dripped onto the passenger floor.

So in the end, it only cost me time as I needed to use the blowdryer, wet/dry vac, and let the car run for about 4 hours with the windows up and the heat blasting!!

So far... all is normal.. except for me?
