Hope someone here can help me. I have a Passat B5.5 2003 model. I have just acquired some wing mirrors from a 2004 model that have the indicators in them. I have watched every video possible and searched every forum going and I just cannot get the mirror caps off like videos show. They will break before they come off. Tried it on my 2003 car and the same thing happens. They won't budge. Are these videos lying to me? Are there screws holding these things on? Sure feels like it. I just want them off so I can get them painted. Can someone confirm if they should just pop off or are they actually fixed another way. Thanks

If they are like mine. Turn signal on the outboards, power adjust, heated and swing back towards the the windows then you need to carefully pop the mirror itself off 1st and remove the 2 or 3 screws off behind the mirror.

I have taken the glass out as a precaution. Is it the 3 screws on the actual part the glass snaps onto that need to be removed? I see the small ones for the indicator lens and sure they aren't holding the cap on. And thanks for replying. I was so close to just throwing them out lol. Will try taking those screws out tomorrow. Thanks again.

After 12 hours on just one mirror every screw has been removed. The centre piece that holds the glass is out, wiring is disconnected and still nothing will move. Can't see any tabs that I can access. Would love to meet the designer and throw it at him and tell him to get it off. They are going in the bin as they aren't gonna budge without breaking them.

Edit Update

Had one last go and got them off. Had to break the clip that holds the indicator lens to to the mirror cap. There was no way that clip was going to allow the cap to pass over it. Will attend to that on reassembly after painting. If need be I will get new indicator lenses. They are easier to get hold of than the actual mirrors. At least the mirrors are genuine VW ones, that's what is most important to me. Thanks again jjpark for your help
