Correct. B5 is Quattro. The B3/B4 Syncro can not be compared to the B5 (Syncro) 4motion because it is not the same system. The B3/B4 is viscous and the B5 is torsen. The B3/B4 is a VW and the B5 is an Audi (A4).
But anything can be compared. Why not?
It depends on the perspective.
F.ex., last two years, I "compare", (on the road, yes), Passatitsa to the various, brand new, shiny, diesel cars people buy here in Greece.
They sound awfully and they are, the vast majority, so slow.
So it is very funny how much hardly, stupid people, are trying to "give a lesson" to a 25 years, old, unknown Passat.
Same thing with the various brands, unmodified, 160 ps 1.8t VAG's.
So why not to try to compare Syncro b5 to it's predecessors, to see if VW, (our big mother), was right?
Marketing wise the newer the better, but is it always?
A very common, (VAG), example is the comparison of the Vanagon Syncro T3 to the Eurovan Syncro T4. The older is, much, better!
