I drove what will hopefully become my 1st passat on Sunday - I will be negotiating the purchase price either tonite or tomorrow night. I would appreciate any model specific info you all could offer - its a 2002 GLX 4Motion.

Any key questions I should ask? recalls? common problems?

I should have mentioned, the car is at 25,000 mi.

Kelley Blue Book says it's worth $25000. I bet you could weasle it down to $22K or 23K. :thumbup:

I've already got him down to 22,500 through casual conversation. He just bought a house so trying to reduce payments. It has a few scuffs - small front right from paralell parking rub, and a light scuff on the rear fender/wheel well as if it rubbed on some wood framing. Also some scratches in the leather from his dog - nothing major though

Im going to try and get him down to 21,500

Looking mainly for any tips on known issues with that model (quirky problems to look for, other details that may/may not be covered under warranty)
