Omori Boost Gauge (w/Blue Backlighting) GB on VW Vortex.
Moderators, I'm sorry if this thread doesn't belong here.
I just wanted to spread the word that a GB for the Blue backlit Omori Boost Gauge is 'in the works' at VW Vortex in the 'Golf IV/Jetta IV Classifieds'!
I've told myself that I'm getting one for some time now & this looks like the way I'm going to get it, so I just wanted to share the
with everyone.
Edit: I'd post a link but I've never done that & don't have time to figure it out now.
Looks like this GB WILL be happening, but if AWE tuning isn't GB friendly it will be with Alamo Motorsport. Those Vortex guys are shoppin' around!

Re: Omori Boost Gauge/Awe Tuning GB on VW Vortex. (Ricardo)
Sound to me like you want that NICE (I like it too!) A-pillar pod.
If you have the side curtain airbags, consider a cup on yr steering column inbetween the Tach & the speddo. I tried to include a pic I 'collected' but can't get it in here, I'll try to e-mail it to you.
Re: Omori Boost Gauge/Awe Tuning GB on VW Vortex. (Ricardo)
I'm helping to host this GB it's not going so well. Neither AWE tuning or Alamo Motorsports (the two that carry Omori currently) have been very receptive when approached for a GB). That is not very friendly when over 200 people are looking to get this gauge, so if any of you has any pull with a company that can get these, please help a brother out...

Waiting for omori... you will need the patience of a zen master.
The cobalts are available now, but I guess a little brighter than the oem guages. Another option is the 42draftdesigns leds.
I'll stick with ClubB5 originated GBs, Thanks Anyway.
edit" "patience of a zen master"...Hey, I'll give you 3:1 odds the APR Front Mount Intercooler for B5 1.8Ts will be released before the Omori Blue/Red Boost Gauge is available.
Aren't VDO boost/vacuum gauges around $50 at egauges.com (?) For another $50, I'll fool around swapping blue LEDs until I find one that matches the stock back lighting.

Thanx. That'll make me rethink that move. I thought after seeing the pictures of the air bag deploying that the gauge wouldn't come flying out at me. Might be time to go back to the steering column or the vent. Was employing a spellchecker ever an option on Clubb5?

quote:
It shouldn't. Even Tim (Blownaway) has an A pillar mount.

From AWE's website: When we took a look at installing a new boost gauge kit in the A4 & S4, we of course, first turned to our best-selling a-pillar gauge kit. However, the addition of the a-pillar/side curtain airbag worried us. The last thing that you need in an accident is a gauge turning into a projectile. During mock-ups and trials, we landed upon the center vent location. After many hours spent in prototyping and product sourcing, we perfected our Center Vent Boost Gauge. The central location of this kit is not only attractive and cohesive to the interior, it is easier to read at speed.
Make of it what you will. I don't think I'd install one in the A Pillar if there were an airbag in there. YMMV
I'll agree with that. Airbag deployment speeds are in somewhere north of ~200mph (to prevent passenger contact with anything solid). Gauge seems harmless when held in your hand..but it has mass. Think Safety.
