After a recent private party purchase of a 2004 v6 2.8 four motion with 58000 miles, Ibrought it to my local vw dealer for a oil/filter change and a oil leak from right rear cylinder head inspection. Report: "level #1 seepage is normal given the time and milage of the car and not a waranty concern."
It's a 2004 and 59000 mi?? Is this typical? Curran VW Stratford,CT
Know any great indys in New Haven county?

If it under warranty have it fixed, almost all oil leaks get bigger. If not under warranty, I would look for a competent independent mechanic to fix it.

thanks for the reply.

The dealer is stating "normal seepage, not covered by warranty". I have ~1000 mi left on powertrain coverage.

Tell them that a bunch of bull, and get it fixed, they are just trying to save them selves a dime, maybe threaten calling corporate if they won't fix it. If anything pose the question "who fixes it when I'm 10 k outside of warranty and oil is poring from that small seeping spot".

Powertrain warranty should cover all seal and gasket leaks - had my valve cover gasket and cam seals replaced under 10/100K warranty at 62000 miles.

Stay on them, or find another dealer. It will get worse. Mine eventually leaked so bad it crapped out my starter.
