This website has been here for 15 years. The B5 Passat has been around since 1997, the B5.5 since 2001, the B6 since 2006, the B7 since 2010, and the B8 was released in Europe in 2014.

For the older models (B6 and earlier), almost any possible issue you might have with your Passat has been discussed here on this website. Let me state that again - almost any possible issue you might have with your Passat has been discussed here on this website.

There has been a rash of newcomers here who aren't taking the time to look for previously documented information and expect to be spoon-fed from the veterans here on how to fix their cars. We, the veterans of this site, expect you newcomers to take the time to utilize the google search utility at the top and bottom of each and every page here. This search tool provides you, the new user, with the ability to search the entire database using google's search tools for key words and tricky phrases that are pertinent to your problem.

Please take the time to a) read and comprehend the valuable info I've written here; b) post in this thread that you have read what I've written here; and, c) use the google search tool - you'll get faster answers!

Thanks-

If anyone know just asking.
I have a 99 vw passat with dry rotted inside, but the motor is like new with no problems. I checked out a 08 vw jetta with like new interior but has blown head gaskets. Can the 99 vw passat motor be placed inside the 08 vw jetta?

Read with mine own eyeballs and understood. Thanks for the info. I'm here poking around for info and advice on assorted repairs and upkeep on my 2013 Passat, and am excited to learn how to do these things myself.

First time user. Already posted in Showcase my 2010 Passat Komfort that I already sank $9k into due to being the product of every know failure of that model lol.
Since it’s worthless for trade in and I now have money to spend, it’s getting a major overhaul to keep as a project car.

Hi, I'm Thomas (in Denton, Tx) and I've got an 04 Passat with the 2.8.
I bought this car for my daughter. I bought it from a German coworker but didn't realize how bad a shape it was in.
I've replaced the dash, pads & rotors, motor mounts, valve cover gaskets and fixed the trunk latch. I've now owned it for a year and a half and only got the title today since I couldn't get it without passing inspection. I took it to a well known shop in Fort Worth and they had it for 2 months and never actually fixed it. At least they got it inspected for me so I could finally get the title transferred.
My main focus is getting that danged ABS light to turn off. :-(
